Volunteer at the 2025 OABE Conference!
Join us for the 2025 Oregon Association for Bilingual Education (OABE) Conference on February 21-22, 2025, at the Canby School District in Canby, Oregon! We’re looking for dedicated student volunteers to assist with various programs and events throughout the conference.
Volunteer Opportunities Include:
- School Visits Program (Feb 21): Help welcome guests and visit K-12 dual language schools across Oregon, choosing from elementary, middle, or high school levels.
- Leadership Reception (Feb 21): Help welcome guests and manage logistics at the evening reception.
- OABE One-Day Institute (Feb 22): Support conference sessions, workshops, and activities.
- Parent Institute (Feb 22): Assist with registration, workshop facilitation, and event operations to empower bilingual families.

Become an OABE Ambassador for the 2025 Oregon Association for Bilingual Education (OABE) Conference! As an Ambassador, you will play a vital role in helping to prepare and execute a successful conference. This year’s event will be held on February 21-22, 2025, at the Canby School District in Canby, Oregon.
Roles and Responsibilities:
OABE Ambassadors are in-service teachers who work behind the scenes to support the planning and organization of the conference. As an Ambassador, you will collaborate with subcommittees to ensure the success of various conference programs. Responsibilities include:
- Subcommittee Meetings: Attend planning meetings to discuss and organize conference programs.
- Task Completion: Take on tasks related to your subcommittee, such as preparing materials, assisting with communication, and coordinating logistics.
- Event Support: On the day of the conference, you’ll help guide attendees, support event staff, and ensure everything runs smoothly.
Subcommittees and Focus Areas:
- Student Support: Organize student volunteer roles and activities, including the Path to Scholarships event.
- DLI Educator Support: Assist dual language immersion educators, plan professional development, and support programs like School Visits and Cafecito con Colegas.
- Parent Support: Organize the Parent Institute and ensure bilingual resources are available, particularly in Spanish.
- Leadership Support: Help organize the Leadership Reception and leadership development activities.
- Membership & Advocacy: Manage membership recruitment, engage with stakeholders, and promote advocacy for bilingual education.
- Main Conference: Coordinate workshops, sessions, keynote speakers, and overall logistics to ensure a smooth conference experience.
