Membership Details
Eligibility
Any person who has an interest in linguistically
and culturally diverse families and students, and
who promotes bilingual and multicultural education
may become a member upon payment of dues.
Educators, parents and students involved with
programs serving bilingual bicultural communities
are encouraged to become members.
Dues
a. Dues will be paid on an annual basis.
Membership will be renewed at the annual summer
Institute. Membership year will begin each
September 1. Those current with dues will be
referred to as "members in good standing"
throughout the remainder of this document.
b. Dues for professionals and administrators are
$20.
c. Dues for paraprofessionals, students and
parents are $10.
d. Non Profit agencies and affiliates will be included on the
Associations mailing list for a fee of
$100.00.
e. Institutional Organizations, Associations, ESD's, Colleges, and Universities who wish a Chapter Level Membership have dues of $500.00.
Rights and
Privileges
a. All members of the Association shall receive announcements of meetings, newsletters, and flyers announcing Association activities.
b. Only members of the Association will have the right to vote, hold office, chair committees and serve on the Governance Board.
c. Individual members will receive a discount on Association registration.
d. Organizational memberships will receive 3 free and unlimited discounted Association registration for conference attendees from their organization which includes annual individual memberships.
Unpaid
Dues
Members whose dues are unpaid at the expiration
of the membership year, and who do not renew their
membership within three months after notification,
will be moved to a listing of inactive members.
Inactive members may not consistently receive OSBI
publications or announcements.
