Dr. José Medina

Dr. José Medina, Chief Educational Advocate for Educational Solutions, and former Director of Global Languages and Culture Education at the Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL). Educational Solutions is a consulting company that serves to create educational access for all students, their families, and the communities they live in. With a specific focus on meeting the needs of emergent bilingual students and language learners, we provide a broad range of support to educational entities throughout the United States and internationally. His opening keynote will be, "Navigating the Intersection of Anti-Bias, Anti-Racism and Dual Language."

Mercedes Muñoz

Mercedes Muñoz´s story is one of triumph. Mercedes has navigated the difficult terrains of homelessness, domestic violence, and poverty to now supporting students and families who are learning to define their own pathways. She was named Oregon Teacher of the Year for 2020, and her lunchtime talk will be, ¨Unidos Como Comunidad: What Are the Margins We Must Step into to Help Form Stronger Communities?¨

Alexandra Guilamo

Alexandra Guilamo, Chief Equity & Achievement Officer, for TaJu Educational Solutions, is a leading expert in the education and effective leadership of dual-language, bilingual education, and language learners’ achievement. As a language learner herself, Alexandra has spent more than twenty years serving a wide range of language learners. She is a former teacher, academic coach, elementary school principal, and district-level director in highly diverse urban and suburban school districts. This range of experiences has equipped her with a unique lens that brings together a deep knowledge of second language acquisition, the guidance of evidence-based practices, and an ability to tailor supports to the distinct contexts and needs of each school she serves. Her closing keynote will be, "The System of Beliefs that Unite or Destroy Nuestra Comunidad."
